A. Michael Sexton

Mr. A. Michael Sexton age 83, of Selma, Alabama passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023.  Mike was born July 21, 1940. 

Mr. Sexton is survived by his wife of 59 years, Eddie Joyce Sexton; his daughter, Michelle Sexton, of Gainesville, Florida; two grandchildren, Callan (Dakota) Acker, of Keystone Heights Florida and Michael Corey Johnson of Gainesville, Florida; great-granddaughter, EllaGrace Acker; his siblings, Glenn Sexton, Janie O’Gwynn , Joe (Patty) Sexton and Tommy (Pam) Sexton and many nieces and nephews.  In addition, Mr. Sexton is survived by his beloved and faithful companion, dog, Bentley.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Marietta Sexton of Montgomery, Alabama and nephew Bill Sexton of Selma, Alabama.

He was an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Selma.  Mr. Sexton (Coach) was a well-respected man who had a powerful influence as a beloved teacher and coach of over 45 years at Bradford County Schools in Starke, Fl, and Morgan Academy in Selma. After retirement, Coach worked at Mark’s Mart in Selma for many years. 

Funeral services will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Selma on Friday, December 8, 2023 at 2:00 pm.  The family will receive friends prior to the service at 1:00pm in the Lower Hall of St. Paul’s.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Selma.
