Albert William Jatko passed away peacefully on September 13, 2016 at the age of 99. He was born in Apalachin, New York on April 16, 1917 to the late Charles John Jatko and Mary Louise Hill Jatko.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Julia Belle Smith Jatko and brothers, Arne Jatko, Elmer Jatko and George Jatko. He was the last of a family of brothers that settled in the Safford area from New York.
He is survived by his son, William Bruce (Beverly) Jatko; daughter, Debra Jatko (Jerry) Bender; grandchildren, Brandon William (Krystal) Jatko, Stacey Dyan (Tom) Hunt, Jerry Paul (Kristy) Bender and Austin Clay (Abbie) Bender; great-grandchildren, Melody Jatko, Zafer Jatko, Reno Mae Jatko, Tanner Bender, Preston Bender, Kaden Bender, Mary Katherine Bender and Anna Clay Bender and his long-time caregiver and good friend, Donna Hughes.
Albert William Jatko "Bill", spent his life working as a carpenter and floor finisher. He loved working with wood and was well known as an excellent carpenter. But all of his family will cherish him for his kindness and gentleness and the many life lessons he taught them. He served in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Mechanic in the South Pacific during World War II. He will be remembered most for his devotion to his wife and family and his love for God. He was a faithful servant of Jehovah God for over 50 years and remained active in his service until his death.
Visitation will be Friday, September 16, 2016 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home. A procession to Orrville Cemetery will follow for a graveside service at 11:45 a.m. with Bro. Aaron Ellis officiating. Following the graveside service, the family will receive friends at the home of Jerry and Debra Bender for refreshments and fellowship.
