Alice S. Gordon, 81, of Selma passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013 at a local hospital.
Mrs. Gordon was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph D. Spivey and Lois V. Spivey; husband, Robert Joseph Gordon; children, Catherine Gordon and John Gordon.
She is survived by her son, Robert J. Gordon and his wife Catherine Rankin Gordon; daughter, Lois G. Brown and her husband Cecil T. Brown; grandchildren, Robert Gordon III, Catherine Leigh Gordon, Suzanne C. Fulgham, and E. Valerie Webb; 4 great grandchildren; brothers, Ernest Spivey and John (Penny) Spivey; other relatives include Betty and Sonny Smith; and Numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Gordon was kin to many Spivey's, Hardy's, Pickens, Ernests, and Tiptons. Her family was known to be some of the first settlers of Dallas and Lowndes Counties. She graduated from Parrish High School and attended the University of Montevallo.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2013 at New Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. Travis Barnes officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.
Active Pallbearers will be Charles Moss, Jerry Harrison, Rob Gordon, Nick Fulgham, Casey Harrison, and Spivey Pickens.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Selma Dallas County Historic Society, Sturdivant Hall, or Selma Dallas County Animal Shelter.
