Allen Burns Williams went to be with his Savior August 9, 2022. He was born January 29, 1934 in Selma, to Hugh Lee Williams and Alice Sample Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 66 years, Anita and brothers, Glenn Williams and Luverene Williams.
He is survived by children, Suzanne (Wayne) Friday, Rick (Gina) Williams of Selma and Cathy Waters (Rick Higdon) of Pensacola, Florida; grandchildren, Christopher (Audra) Friday, Alicia (Gene) Slone, Justin (Melissa) Bowman, Amy Bowman (Josh Johnson), Mallory Waters, McKenzie Williams and Pierce Williams; great-grandchildren, Christian, Kelsie and Kenzie Friday, Jesse and Matthew Slone, Allysa and Addison Bowman, Emily and Everleigh Waters and Isabelle Johnson; sister, Joyce Wall; sisters-in-law, Nell Nichols and Dot Williams and numerous nieces and nephews.
Allen served 26 years in the Alabama National Guard where he formed friendships that he treasured. When given the opportunity he loved to talk to friends and family about times in the guard, working floods and hurricanes. He established Selma Communications Service in 1952 as a TV repair shop that evolved over the years to include two-way radios, computers and security systems.
Allen was a member of Church Street Methodist Church. They were so honored to be a member of the church family, and were an asset to the congregation. Allen and Anita were members of the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class, Emmaus, and Allen took great pride in running the sound system for the church.
Allen served in many roles as a Lions Club and an Elks Club member. He loved meeting the many people involved in the State Fair Convention, the local citizens who attended all of the activities, and enjoyed working beside his wife and all of their friends.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to the people at Amedisys Home Health for all of their assistance and kind support through his illness and Selma Medical for years of loving care. We would also like to express our gratitude to special caregiver, Aquila James, for all she did for our family. All of you are angels on earth.
Visitation will be at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home on Thursday, August 11,2022 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be Friday, August 12, 2022 beginning at 10:00 at Church Street Methodist Church with Rev. Diane Everette. Interment will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Friday, Justin Bowman, Pierce Williams, Gene Sloan, Glenn Phillips, Chase Utsey, Joshua Johnson, Davie Hicks, and David Johnson
