After a brief illness, Amy Sue Moss Sims passed away on August 17, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 19, 1939, in Birmingham, AL. She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Jim Sims.
Children include Sue Ellen Sims Johnson (Jimmy), James Hubert Sims, III (Meg), Michael Moss Sims (Julie). Grandchildren include Amy Annette Johnson Dunn, Kerri Lynn Johnson Summey, Annabelle Sims, Mary Patton Sims, Jeb Sims, Katy Sims and John Michael Sims. Amy was blessed with 4 great grandchildren, 5 nieces, nephews and many beloved extended family members.
Amy is also survived by her Sister Annette Blake (Cambell) and preceded in death by her brother Bill Moss (Marie).
Amy attended Auburn University and Samford University where she obtained a master’s degree in Math. She taught at George C. Wallace in Selma and was the Math Department Head until she retired.
Wife, mother and Maw Maw, was a devoted member of Church Street Methodist Church in Selma. She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), participated in delivering Meals on Wheels, and other church related ministries and served on the Board of Directors for Sabra Sanctuary.
Amy was an avid tennis player and a talented artist.
Our family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Vaughn Regional Medical Center, Hospice and our deep appreciation to Amy’s close friends, the members of the church and all who knew and loved this precious lady.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Church Street Methodist Church.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Church Street Methodist Church, Located at 214 Church Street, Selma, Alabama on Tuesday August 20th at 10:30am.
