Anice Morris Armstrong
Anice Morris Armstrong passed away on Tuesday July 2, 2013.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday July 5, 2013 at New Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. Sid McCollum officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.
Active Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Mrs. Armstrong is survived by her children, Reese Armstrong Bradbury (AL), Nancy Armstrong Woods (Lu), Averee Armstrong Hicks (Alan), and Robert Emerson Armstrong III (Ann); grandchildren, Spears Driskell (Rebecca), Will Driskell (Ann), Patrick Wilkerson, Paul Wilkerson (Renee'), Josh Wilkerson, Alan Hicks Jr. (Mareike), Emery Hicks (Heather), Robert E. Armstrong IV, Reese Armstrong, and Catherine Armstrong; one great grandchild, Hazel June Hicks; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her impact on the community and the lives of the people who knew her was
significant. She was involved in the business community through ownership of Selma
Stationery Co., a long time family owned business in Selma. She also was well loved at
First Presbyterian Church for her involvement as an elder, a choir member, and teaching
the 3rd & 4th grade children's class for over 30 years. Countless children, many of whom
are now adults in Selma, were able to better understand and experience God's love for
them as a result of her joyful and loving heart.
Those who really knew Anice, though, recognized that her heart belonged to two
things. First, Anice loved her family. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother,
grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and "adopted" mother to so many. She was always
thinking about her beloved family and how to help any way that she could. And she was
constantly praying for them. The result of her loving heart for family was that she was
adored by her family and those who knew her. She was a woman who loved well and
who was well loved.
The greatest love of her life though, was her precious God. She was a woman of
profound faith who truly loved the Lord with all of her heart. She had an intimacy and
child like faith in him that inspired others to walk more closely with God. The love that
she consistently showed to others came from the close relationship that she had with the
Father.
Anice will be well remembered and loved for her joyful, kind, and loving spirit.
