Arthur Thomas Headley

Arthur Thomas "Tom" Headley passed away January 5, 2025 at the age of 75. He was born October 27, 1949 to the late Willard Clark Headley and Flossie Pauline Dutton Headley.

He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Clark Headley.

Arthur was a devoted family man whose warmth and kindness were felt by everyone he encountered. His heart was large enough to embrace not only those he loved but also every stranger who crossed his path. A graduate of A.G. Parish High School in Selma, he furthered his education at the Marion Military Institute, where he honed not only his academic skills but also his values of discipline and service.

For many years, Arthur dedicated his professional life to the insurance industry, serving as an area sales manager for Liberty National Life Insurance. His commitment to his career was paralleled only by his passion for local Selma politics, where he once held the esteemed position of Selma City Councilman. His contributions to the community were significant, as he tirelessly worked to uplift those around him and ensure their voices were heard.

Arthur's service extended beyond the corporate world and community boards; he proudly served in the Army National Guard of Alabama as a draftsman. This period of his life shaped him into a disciplined individual who valued teamwork, leadership, and integrity.

An avid Alabama football fan, Arthur found joy in cheering for his team, sharing spirited conversations about the game with friends and family alike. He approached every interaction with an infectious enthusiasm that reflected his love for life and his community.

He is survived by his children, Tommy Headley, Jason Headley, Shelley Howard, Jason Grindle; grandchildren, Haleigh, Jasmyne, Bryson, Sophie, Addie, Nicholas, Zach and Brady; siblings, Thad (Gwen) Headley and Sarah Benson; long-time companion, Terry Lambert and his loving pet, Marlee Mae

Graveside services will be Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at New Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. James Perkins, Jr. officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. There will be no visitation.

Pallbearers will be Arthur Thomas Headley, Jr., Thad Headley, Jason Horton, Zach Grindle, Jason Grindle and George Anthony.
