RUSH JR., AUBREY M. 86, of Selma, Alabama went to heaven March 11, 2015.
He was born in Selma in 1929. Aubrey graduated from Orville High School in 1947, graduated from the University of Alabama in 1952 and earned a Master's Degree at the University of Alabama in 1955.
He taught at Albertville High School until 1960 and then returned to Dallas County and served as Principal of Carlowville High School until 1963. In 1963 he was appointed Assistant Superintendent of Dallas County Public Schools; a position he held until his retirement in 1986. Aubrey continued to enjoy his community and civic involvement throughout his retirement by serving on the following boards and commissions: Selma, Dallas County Red Cross Board of Directors; Selma, Dallas County United Way Board of Directors; Member of the Selma Exchange Club for 52 years. Served as President of the Exchange Club for two terms as well as serving on the State Board of Directors of the Exchange Club and served two terms on the Dallas County School Board of Education, 2 years of which he was chairman.

He is preceded in death by Father, Aubrey M. Rush Sr.; Mother, Elizabeth Clark Rush and Sister, Lucille Rush Ray.
Aubrey is survived by his niece, Susan Ray Shea (Daniel Shea); great niece, Lindy Shea; great nephews, Harry Shea and Andy Shea; Cousin, Gail Gay (Jackson Gay) and their son Mike Gay; Cousin, Mark Peavy (Cindy Peavy) and their son, Marcus Peavy, Cousin, Linda Williams and her daughter, Emily Williams.
Aubrey will be remembered by his family as "Sonny" and "Uncle Sonny" with memories of his and our visits to and from each other's homes in Albuquerque, Selma and New Orleans. These times are, and will be, greatly missed.
Pallbearers will be Frank Earnest, Marvin Warren, Billy Moore, T.J. Etheridge, Gene Pegues and Daniel Shea. Honorary Pallbearers are members of the Selma Exchange Club.
In lieu of flowers the family request that a memorial donation be made to the charity of your choice.
Aubrey was a kind, gentle and generous son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to all who knew him. He was a member of The Marion Junction Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 16, 2015 at Lawrence Brown - Service Funeral Home beginning at 11:00 a.m. Minister Travis Barnes will officiate the service, assisted by Ed Byron and Dr. George Wood. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service; beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery.
