Barbara Kay Reynolds Garris age 85 of Selma, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Selma Health and Rehab after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Selma, Alabama on September 21, 1936 to Val Taylor Reynolds, Sr. and Jessie Alnora Pardue Reynolds.
Barbara graduated from Orrville High School and Livingston State College before becoming a high school teacher in Georgia and Alabama. After a teaching career, she worked in the family business, the Tally-Ho Restaurant and she was the long time Manager of Chanticleer Apartments in Selma. Barbara was a life-long member of Pisgah Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack D. Garris; and her grandson, Timothy Kryscuk.
She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Garris Christian (Curtis); grandchildren, Jessica Christian (Jacob Asberry) and Curtis Christian, Jr. (Shelby); great-grandchildren, Daniel Christian, Thomas Asberry, Logan Asberry, Ansley Christian, Annalee Christian, Adalyn Christian; brothers, Val Taylor Reynolds, Jr., James Michael Reynolds (Lisa); sister, Ann Reynolds Gaston; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2022, 1:30 p.m. at Pisgah Presbyterian Church on Old Marion Junction (CR 44) in the Potter Station Community near Selma with Rev. Ira Blanchard officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.
A private burial will take place at New Live Oak Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Pisgah Presbyterian Church (P.O. Box 501, Selma, Alabama 36702), St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
