Bernie Smith

Bernie Clydell Smith, age 84, of Selma, AL, passed away October 7, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Benton Smith; brother, Clemmie McKay and sisters, Elizabeth McKay and Pauline Ivory. She is survived by her son, James R. (Joyce) Smith; brothers, Curtis (Marie) McKay and Paul McKay; grandchildren, Angela Kelli (Gene) Burbage, Kimberly Ann (Zack) Kalinauskas and Kathryn Ashley (Matt) Griffies; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Kalinauskas, Kaitlin Burbage, Mark Kalinauskas and one on the way and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Selma Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Gene Burbage officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens with Selma Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Zack Kalinauskas, Matthew Griffies, John Kalinauskas, Ricky Pendley, Doug Ferguson and Wheeler Chance. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Kalinauskas and Jim Molett. The family extends a special thank you to her sitters, Juanita, Alice, Pat and Lisa and to all her friends at Courtyard Apts. Also, a special thank you to Dr. Park Chittom, Sr. and the staff at Park Place Nursing Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to Houston Park Church of Christ Building Fund, 2 Crescent Hill Drive, Selma, AL 36701.
