Bertrand Riddle

Bertrand Augustus Riddle, age 82, of Summerfield, AL, died November 16, 2010 at Crowne Nursing Home in Montgomery, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zimri Oscar Riddle and Lucy Leishman Riddle; wife, Joyce Williams Riddle; brothers, Tom Riddle and Z. O. Riddle, Jr. and sister, Lucy Riddle Albritton. He is survived by his three daughters, Sandy Ashurst of Valley Grande, Beverly Riddle (Ron) Wise of Montgomery and Susan M. Riddle of Valley Grande and four grandchildren, Bob (Shelly) Ashurst of Auburn, Amanda Ashurst of Millbrook, Ronnie Wise and Matthew Wise, both of Montgomery. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens with Selma Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. -1:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Mike Hancock, Hank Newburn, Frank Driscoll, Mark Harris, Rickey Moore, Ronnie Wise, Matthew Wise and Carol Hughey. Buddy, as everyone called him, was an avid War Eagle Fan. As an Auburn Civil Engineer, he enjoyed his career with the Highway Department. He also served as Dallas County engineer for several years. He started building roads with his aunt and uncle's company in Selma in 1951. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Auburn University College of Engineering, 317 South College St., Auburn, AL 36849.
