Bessie Jones

Bessie "Mom" Jones, age 101, of Valley Grande, AL, passed away May 13, 2010. She was the last surviving child of eight siblings born to James and Geneva Williams. Surviving are her sons, James E. Jones, Raymond L. (Jeanette) Jones and Carson (Diane) Jones; eight grandchildren, Angela Troha, Teresa Troha Harrison, Timothy C. Troha, Morgan Jones, Neil Jones, Mike Jones, Eddie Jones and Tammy Jones Dolbare; thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Sunday, May 16, 2010 at 2:00 p.m.at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Preston D. Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens with Selma Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, May 15, 2010 from 6-8:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Timothy C. Troha, Morgan Jones, Neil Jones, Mike Jones, Eddie Jones and Tyler Dumas. Mrs. Jones volunteered for Cahaba Rehabilitation Center and The Valley Creek Community Center. She donated lap throws that she handmade to local nursing homes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to Cahaba Hospice, 410 Church Street, Selma, AL 36701.
