Bettie Jane Huggins Saylors, age 65, departed this life Friday, April 24, 2009 at her home after a lengthy illness. Jane Jane, as she was affectionately known by family and friends, was a loving daughter and sister, faithful and loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother, and loyal friend to many.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday April 27, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Church Street United Methodist Church in Selma with Rev. Fred Ziegler officiating and Lawrence Brown- Service Funeral Home directing.
She was a hairdresser for many years, an artistic woodturner, and member of the Church Street United Methodist Church, The American Association of Woodturners, and a former board member of the Alabama Association of Woodturners, and the Southern States Woodturning Symposium.
Jane Jane is survived by her mother, Mrs. Bettie Lou Huggins of Gallion, Alabama, her beloved husband of 25 years, David Saylors of Selma, brother, James David Huggins, Jr. (Carol) of Gallion, Alabama, son, Alan Spencer Duke (Kelly), and daughter, Jana Etheridge all of Gallion, Alabama, grandsons, William Chase Jones and Mathew Chad Jones both of Montgomery, Alabama, and granddaughter, Cassie Alan Duke of Gallion, Alabama and a niece, Ashley Hampton of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She is also survived by caregivers, Jane Allison Pope Tims and Betty Jones, and her faithful canine companions, Sallie Louise, who rarely left Jane Jane's side, and Duke II.
The family request that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Alzheimer���s Research Foundation. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in The Calhoun Parlor at the church.
