Beverly Merle Wire Risher Mitchell, 85, died peacefully on September 30, 2019 surrounded by her family.
Beverly was born on May 12, 1934 in Cincinnati, OH, the daughter of the late Dr. William Shidaker Wire and Gladys Merle Buckmaster Wire Smith. She was a graduate of Albert G. Parrish High School and previously volunteered with Junior Golf of Wichita and served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). Beverly was a cradle Episcopalian who served on the Altar Guild and she was also an avid bridge player who loved life to the fullest.
Beverly was preceded in death by her former husband, Benjamin Beers Risher and her husband, Lawrence Ralph Mitchell. She is survived by her loving children, Benjamin Josiah Risher (Susan) and Diane Merle Risher Kaidel (Dan); two granddaughters, Chloe Risher (Trey Aponte) and Larson Merle Kaidel; a grandson, Zachary Risher; and two great-grandsons, Henley and Elijah Aponte. She is also survived by her brother, William Shidaker Wire II (Cheryl) and sister, Carroll Smith Proffitt.
A memorial service with Rector Dawn Frankfurt officiating will be held at Larksfield Place in Wichita, KS at 2pm on Wednesday, October 2, 2019. A private graveside service will be held at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, AL for the immediate family at a later date. The family would like to recognize the compassionate care given to Beverly by the staff at Larksfield Place in Wichita, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Episcopal Church, 3750 E. Douglas Ave., Wichita, KS 67208 or St. Paul's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 1306, Selma, AL 36702.
