The family will receive friends at the Selma Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be 11:00 Tuesday at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George K. Jones, Sr. officiating. Interment will be in New Live Oak Cemetery with Selma Funeral Home directing.
He is survived by his wife Nancy Ammons; and his children; Les (Devonne) Ammons, Susan (Dennis) Wooldridge, Faye Boroughs, Scott (Renea) Ammons, Bobby (Tonya) Ratliff, Tessa (Scott) Wilson, Corey (Kellie) Ratliff; sister, Brenda (Don) Meeks; mother-in-law, Louise Meadows; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara (Jimmy) Harris. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren; Leslie and Lendsy Ammons, Savannah and Paige Wooldridge, Jesica Alberg, Denton Boroughs, Will Blanchard, Tori Hobbie, Tyler and Breanna Ammons, Emilee and Kennedee Ratliff, Tiffaney and Greggory Piper, Karson and Jackson Wilson, Bishop and D.C. Ratliff and two great-grandchildren; Brodie Ammons and Ragen Belcher and numerous nieces and nephews.
Billy was preceded in death by his father, Lester Ammons and his mother, Sadie Lee Sellers, his brothers, Cleve Ammons and Bud Ammons.
He was a machinist for the U.S. Navy and retired after 30 years of service with Norfolk Railroad.
Pallbearers will be Tooter Piper, Jesse Harris, Norman Copeland, Doc Meeks, Ronnie Whitaker, and Fred Vaughan. Honorary Pallbearer, Joe Sudduth.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to American Cancer Society.
