Carolyn Sue Benson Girlie

Carolyn Sue Benson Girlie went to be with our Lord on July 8, 2024 at the age of 74, surrounded by her family. She was born February 16, 1950 to the late Frances and Kenneth Benson.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert Calvin Girlie; son, Kenny Girlie; great-granddaughter, Henley Scott Moore; sister, Sandra (Lonnie) Jones and sister-in-law, Margaret Bamberg.

She is survived by her son, Scott (Stephanie) Girlie; daughter-in-law, Saundra Girlie; grandchildren, Benson (Stephani) Girlie, Myranda (Jonathan) Langston, Kaylee (Landon) Moore, Landon Girlie, Ethan Girlie and Grayson Girlie; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Fay (Darrel) Siebert and Cathy (Benny) Carlee; sister-in-law, Betty (Stan) Walloga; brothers-in-law, Bobby (Peggy) Girlie and Ronnie Gill and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2024 in the chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathan Lambert and Rev. Artie Plummer officiating. Interment will follow at Pineview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home, beginning at 10:30 a.m., prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Landon Girlie, Ethan Girlie, Kevin Jones, Benny Carlee, Landon Moore and Don Smith.

The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heart-felt forms from extended family and friends. The family would also like to express sincere gratitude for the care provided by the Montgomery Cancer Center, Selma as well as Baptist Medical Center South.
