He was preceded in death by his son, Chuck Canterbury and his parents, Paul and Virginia Canterbury.
Surviving are his sons, Allen (Michelle) Canterbury, Johnny Paul (Amanda) Canterbury and Richard Newberry; brothers, William Kenneth Canterbury; sister, Patricia Ann Grace and seven grandchildren, Brandee Canterbury, Morgan Byrum, D. J. Martin, Jr., Nicole Canterbury, Samantha Goodwin, Nathan Goodwin and Cody Goodwin.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in Pineview Memory Gardens with Rev. George K. Jones, Sr. officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 12:30-2:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be John Paul Wilkerson, James White, Mark Johnson, Wesley Johnson, Craig Mott and Wayne Averette.
