Charles "Len" Johnson, age 54, of Selma, AL, passed away July 7, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. and Elsie Jan Johnson; biological parents, Raymond Leo Galvin and Shirley Mae Jackson and granddaughter, Katelyn Amanda Reed. Surviving are his wife, Rita Ann Smith Johnson; loving mother-in-law, Betty A. Edwards; daughters, Jennifer Lynn Johnson of Millbrook, AL, Kala Reane Hernendaz of Montgomery, AL, Kimberly Ann Stewart of Prattville, AL and Brina Lynn (Robert) Lombardo of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; brothers, Mark Leo (Jody) Galvin and Stephen Paul (Valerie) Galvin; sisters, Deborah Ann (Mike) Haston and Sharon Lee Townsend grandchildren, Roland V. "Trey" Griffin, III, Emily Nicole Griffin, Brandon Len Carlton, John Allen Reed, Allysia Llamas, Abigail Hernendaz, Kimberly Hernendaz, Isabella Lombardo and Miguel Vega; and special friends, Don Lunsford and Bill and Dot Young of Montgomery, AL. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkdale Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Frazer and Rev. Cory Horton officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens with Selma Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service from 12:30-2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Ricky McDowell, Scott Little, Andy Hewitt, Curtis Miley, Tim Harrison, Don Rose, Bob Harris and John Roseberry. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Julian Howell, Dr. Stephen White, Dr. Osasere Aghedo, Dannie Mantel, Ferrell Ford, Ron Stewart and John Bowers. Len worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad for over twenty years. He had many friends there and loved his job. After he was hurt in 2000, he missed his job very much. He was able, through his disability, to serve the Lord as he never had before. He became a great witness and servant of God. He will be greatly missed here on earth as he walks with his Lord in heaven. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to Elkdale Baptist Church Building Fund, 2221 Elkdale Street, Selma, AL 36701.
