Charles Lynn Piper, age 83, of Selma, Alabama, died on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at a hospital in Mobile, Alabama following a brief illness. He is survived by one sister, Carolyn Piper of Mobile, AL; four nieces, Debbie Piper (Ron) Pelletier, Gina Piper (Steve) Williams, Cindi Piper Hamm and Edie Piper Jewell; two nephews, Charles N. (Marilyn) Palmiter and Steve (Stephanie) Piper and numerous great nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Coley Lynn and Mary Middleton Piper; two brothers, Robert Winston Piper and William Lewis Piper; one sister, Margaret Piper Palmiter and her husband, Eddie Palmiter, and one niece, Barbara Palmiter Livingston. Charles grew up in Selma and graduated from Albert G. Parrish High School in 1947. He was drafted into the U. S. Army and served during the Korean War. He was employed for many years at Southern Clothing and Notions until it closed, then American Candy Company. Graveside services will be Sunday, October 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in New Live Oak Cemetery with Selma Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home.. Charles loved his family. His nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews, were very special to him.
