Charles Edward Spence, age 75 of Daphne, AL. and formerly of Selma, Al. passed away Friday, January 22, 2021 at his home in Daphne, AL. following a lengthy illness.
Charles was born April 1, 1945 in El Paso, TX., to the late Clifford Irby Spence and Jewel Elizabeth Booker Spence. After his Dad passed away, Mrs. Spence returned to Alabama and eventually brought Charles to Selma at the age of 11 years old. He grew up in Selma and loved Selma as his hometown. He began his Banking career with Selma National Bank and stayed with them 43 years through two name changes before retiring and joining First Cahawba Bank as a Vice President of Consumer Lending. In his 50 years of Banking, Charles became lifelong friends with more people than you can possibly imagine. He loved and respected more people than ever I realized.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; Irby and Jewel Spence.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marcie Payne Spence; Son, Russell Comer Spence and grandson, James Hunter Spence and our little companion, CoCo.
