Clarice Gillis Taylor, age 88, of Hoschton, GA passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2014.
She is survived by her nieces, B. Gail Camp, Cumming, GA, Harriet Piper, Selma, AL, Julia Bochert, Virginia Beach, VA, Shirley Baggett, Selma, AL and Becky Bailey, Buford, GA; nephews, Terry Bailey, Buford, GA, Clarence Piper, Selma, AL, Ed Bochert, VA and Henry (Ruby) Piper, Mobile, AL; several cousins and other relatives.
Mrs. Taylor was a native Selmian and a graduate of Albert G. Parrish High School, Class of 1943. She worked for two years as a secretary at Craig Air Force Base in Selma, AL. She then worked as a secretary to the Manager of the Alabama State Employment Service for eleven years. She then moved to the Washington DC area with her husband, Pete Taylor, who was assigned as an air traffic controller at the Washington Airport. Mrs. Taylor began a twenty-eight year employment with the Federal Government, primarily in the fields of Army Intelligence and Security. Her last fifteen years of Federal employment were spent as Executive Secretary to the Chief of Staff of a Major Army Command, The U. S. Army Intelligence and Security Command Headquarters in Arlington, VA. She retired in 1984 and moved to Lawrenceville, GA to be near family members. Mrs. Taylor was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. CST on Sunday, May 18, 2014 in the Chapel of Lawrence Brown Service Funeral Home, 2900 Citizen Parkway, Selma, AL 36701. Interment will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery, Selma, AL. The family will receive friends at the Lawrence Brown Service Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. CST until the time of service.
