Coleman Ronald Davis passed away at his home in Valley Grande, Alabama on January 16, 2014 at the age of 82. Mr. Davis coached and taught in the Texas Public School System until he moved to Selma to become the curriculum coordinator for the Selma City Schools. He also taught third grade at Knox Elementary and second grade at Meadowview Christian School. He worked in the city's GED program and taught as an adjunct instructor at Wallace Community College. He was an avid reader and volunteered at the library. He loved gardening and sharing his harvest with family and friends. He was an elder and choir member as Pisgah Presbyterian Church. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Rolla and Mary Seaman Davis; grandparents, Coleman Robert and Ollie Hilliard Davis, and O.T. and Effie Finley Seaman and sister, Barbara Ann Davis McCord Thomas. He leaves behind his wife, Iris Lynne Latham Davis of Valley Grande, Alabama; children, Mary Elizabeth Davis of Leesville, La., Nina Francis Davis of Austin, Texas, Coleman Robert Davis of Buffalo Gap, Texas, Richard Michael (Sharon) DeCurtins of Decatur, Alabama and John Davis and Leslie Blondell; beloved grandchildren, Dakota Robert Davis, Cameron Alloway Davis of Buffalo Gap, Texas, Mary Grace DeCurtins, Aimae Elisabeth DeCurtins, Adeline Pearl DeCurtins of Decatur, Alabama; niece, Mary M. McCord Harrison of Kotzebue, Alaska; nephews, Joel Clark (Donna) McCord of Collierville, Tennessee, Victor Wells McCord of Texas, Jerry Jeffery McCord of Texas; aunt, Virginia Davis Johnson of Little Rock, Arkansas; great nieces, Shondell Harrison (Rodney) Beckey, Aliece McCord; great nephews, Coleman McCord, Ian, Graeme and Cameron McCord; aunt-in-law, Bernice Dykes of Selma, Alabama and Brother-In-Law, Bill Latham of Deatsville, Alabama; Pisgah Presbyterian Church Members, special neighbors, many other loving friends and co-workers, and his four-legged companions, Molly, Polley, Rose and Pearlie Mae. The family invites friends and relatives to join them for the Sunday morning church service at 11:00 a.m. at Pisgah Presbyterian Church in Potters Station, Alabama on January 26, 2013 . There will be fellowship and visitation after the morning church service and a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you simply do an act of kindness in memory of Ron.
