She was born on September 16, 1953 to Mary Alice Smith Stapler and the late Robert Carlton Stapler, Jr. Cynthia lived a life characterized by kindness, love, and a selfless spirit that enriched the lives of all who knew her.

Cynthia's early years were spent in Selma, where she graduated from Selma High School before pursuing higher education at Wallace Community College, earning an Associate's degree in business. This foundation proved instrumental in her successful career, as she dedicated herself to the field of healthcare. After 18 years of service at Gulf Coast Cancer Center in Daphne, Alabama, Cynthia continued her noble mission at the Selma Cancer Center, where her compassionate nature shone brightly. It was here that she touched the hearts of countless patients and their families, always offering comfort and support.

Cynthia's life was woven with joyous family gatherings, a pursuit she cherished deeply. Her home was a haven for loved ones, a place where laughter echoed and memories were created. She was the epitome of a wonderful mother, completely devoted to her two sons. Faith played a central role in Cynthia's life. As an elder at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, she dedicated many hours to serving her church community. As the moderator of the women in church and chairman of the worship team, her leadership was marked by grace and deep sincerity. She also lent her beautiful voice to the choir, sharing her gift of music with others and bringing joy to worship services. Her unwavering commitment to her faith and community proved significant throughout her life in Selma.

Cynthia had a big heart that truly loved everyone, and helping others was more than just a hobby; it was the essence of her being. She embodied generosity and selflessness, often giving of herself even when it came at a personal cost. Those who had the privilege of knowing her will remember her not only for her kindness but also for her ability to make others feel valued and cherished.

She is survived by her sons, Scott Hammerle and Clayton (Mickey) Hammerle; mother, Mary Alice Smith Stapler; brothers, Robert C. Stapler, III and Mark G. Stapler and special family members, Emily, Jay and Tricia Hammerle.
