Dea Jones Rogers, 73, of Powder Springs, GA. passed away on Friday, June 25, 2021, in Austell, GA. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 28, 2021, at 2 o’clock at Roswell Street Baptist Church; Marietta, Georgia in the Gathering Place with Pastor Michael Lewis officiating.
Dea is survived by her loving husband, Billy Rogers of Powder Springs, GA; son, Bradley Rogers of Powder Springs, GA; daughter, Deidre Rogers of Powder Springs, GA; brother, Alan Jones(Harriett) of Selma, AL; sister-in-law, Yvonne Jones of Tuscaloosa, AL; and several nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy Jones, Sr & Adella Jones and brother, Roy Jones, Jr.
Dea was born Tuesday, February 17, 1948, in Dothan, AL to Roy & Adella Jones. She married the love of her life Billy Rogers on November 23, 1968, giving them 52 wonderful years together. They have two loving children, Bradley & Deidre Rogers. Dea graduated from the University of Alabama Birmingham with her bachelor’s degree. She worked for WellStar physicians as a Medical Insurance Billing Representative and retired after 15 years of service. Dea & Billy have been members of the Roswell Street Baptist Church for over 30 years and belonged to the Faithful Followers Bible School group. Dea was a lover of animals, she enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, going horseback riding with her daughter Deidre, and especially her faithful companion, her dog, Scout. Dea was a caregiver by nature and was always willing to help anyone in need. She was a loving and dedicated wife and mother, and always made sure her family was taken care of. Dea’s loving presence will be forever missed.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 28, 2021, following the service. Family has asked in lieu of flowers that donation be made in Dea’s name to the American Cancer Society at https://donate3.cancer.org/ or to Roswell Street Baptist Church Women’s Centre or Food Bank at https://roswellstreet.com/give/.
The family will have a visitation in Selma at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2021 at First Baptist Church.
