Delilah Staggers

Delilah Briggs Staggers age 90 of Selma, passed away on June 18, 2022.

She was born in Rutledge, Alabama on November 17, 1931 to the late O.C. and Kate Stevenson Briggs.

Mrs. Staggers was a long time member of Sister Springs Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, a member of the WMU, long time choir member, a 45 plus year worker in Vacation Bible School, and served on many other committees.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Staggers McQueen; sister, Bobbie Milton; daughter-in-law, Joyce Mims Staggers; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Ashley) Staggers, Jana (Steve) Roberson, Autumn (Brandon) Harris, Katie (Shea) Hall, and Jessica (John Allen) Bates; great-grandchildren, Tyler Huett, Hunter Stephens, Kayla Claire Stephens, Breanna Harris, Brock Harris, Brelee Harris, Jacob Poe, Bentley Hall, Hudson Staggers, Fisher Staggers, Lilah Roberson, and John Harris Bates; Nephews, Jerry Milton, Keith Milton, and many great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 47 years, Harmon Haywood Staggers; son, Eddie Staggers; brother-in-law, James Milton and nephew Jimmy Milton.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. from the Sister Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Bayne officiating.

Graveside service will follow in the Sister Springs Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Sister Springs Baptist Church, 345 Co. Rd. 457 Tyler, Alabama.

Pallbearers are Hunter Stephens, Jacob Poe, Fisher Staggers, Jeffrey Staggers, Rhett McQueen, and Steve Spivey.

Honorary pallbearers are Tyler Huett, Chris Serman, Monk Moore, George Denmark, Bill Hatfield, and Mark Cooper.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Delilah Staggers to the National Cancer Society and to The Alabama Central Division of Fishers of Men, 1541 Grier Rd. Wetumpka, AL 36092. Mrs. Delilah's son, Eddie, was the first Director of the FOM Alabama Central Division. This is a Christian tournament trail and its focus is making Fishers of Men through witnessing and spreading God's word. Delilah supported this trail and ministry through her prayer.

Final care and arrangements have been faithfully entrusted to the care of Selma Funeral Home.
