Dera Fitts

Dera May Fitts, age 96, of Selma, AL, passed away December 6, 2010 in a Pontotoc, MS nursing home. She was born on April 19, 1914. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Eugene Fitts; parents, Jessie Freeman and Ola May Watters; son, Gary M. Fitts; daughter, Linda Box; brother, Otis Watters and sisters, Lucille Hurd and Ruby Nell Durden. She is survived by her sons, Robert (Mary) Fitts and Jerry Wayne (Louanna) Fitts; daughter, Carolyn J. (Charles) Crowley; brother, Lewis Watters and sister, Mary Hancock; grandchildren, Gene (Wende) Fitts, Tracy (Bill) Wilson, Kim (Jon) Jennings, Rocky Fitts, Steve (Bonnie) Fitts, Tina Fulford, Greg Lebro, Sean Crowley,Victor (Sally) Fitts, Wade (Jenna) Fitts, Sam Fitts, Tim (Anita) Box, Dena (Mike) Cutler and Jennifer (Dale) Brooks; twenty five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday, December 10, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Birchler and Rev. Donald Harris officiating. Interment will be in New Live Oak Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30-2:00 p.m. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Woodland Heights Presbyterian Church.
