Dianne Melton Rainer, born January 23, 1945, passed away in the company of family on October 4, 2017, after a courageous fight of 16 years. Dianne was born in Bonaire, Ga. and later moved to Selma with her parents and called Selma her home. She graduated from Parrish High School in 1963. On January 6, 1968 she married her childhood sweetheart, Sterl Rainer. They would have celebrated their 50th anniversary on January 6, 2018. After settling in Tuscaloosa and Aliceville, Al, they finally moved to Destin, FL to make their final home raising 3 beautiful boys. Dianne was known to her many friends as "one who spoke her mind", helped anyone in need and loved with all her heart. She was especially loyal to her family and friends and will be sorely missed by all.
She is predeceased by parents, John and Nell Melton. She is survived by her devoted husband, Sterl Rainer, son Price (Kelly) Rainer, son Joel (Danyelle) Rainer, son Melton Rainer, loyal and devoted sister Judy Sweeney, 3 grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will include a visitation from 10:30-11:30 on sat., October 7, at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home in Selma Al. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 in New Live Oak Cemetery. Dr. Jerry Henry from Fairhope, Al will be officiating. Pall bearers will be Price Rainer, Joel Rainer, Marbury Rainer, John Russell, Andy Krenkel and Dennis Wallace.
Contributions can be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital or Opportunity Place, Lovejoy Road, Fort Walton Beach.
