Dickson Dewitt

Dickson Burke DeWitt passed away April 3, 2022 at the age of 65. He was born on February 7, 1957 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Gerald DeWitt.

He graduated from John T. Morgan Academy in 1976 and attained Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America and worked in International Paper’s woodyard for nearly 40 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Susan Williams DeWitt.

He is survived by his children, Casey DeWitt (Patrick) Waites, Wylson Burke (Andrea) Dewitt, Parker Bryant DeWitt, Kaite DeWitt (David) Durham; grandchildren, Austin Carpenter, Cameron Carpenter, Rebecca Carpenter, Porter Waites, Walker Waites, Palmer Waites, Emily Durham, Charlotte Durham, Wyatt Durham and Daniel Durham; brothers, Karl Hamilton and George Eskridge and faithful friend and companion, Nancy Dewitt.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Waites, David Durham, Porter Waites, Walker Waites, Palmer Waites and Karl Hamilton.

Honorary pallbearers will be George Eskridge and the Woodyard at International Paper.

Graveside services will be Friday, April 8, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at New Live Oak Cemetery with Paul Chappell officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service.
