Doris Evelyn Booker Pilgreen, age 92, passed away on February 23, 2011. She was preceded in Death by: Her Father, Preston Stanley Booker; her mother, Helen Day Booker Guyse; her step-father, Oland M. Guyse; her husband, Carl W. Pilgreen; her sister, Velma ���Buddie��� Prescott She leaves behind nieces and nephews: Dianne Prescott Dent (Palmer B. Dent, Jr) ; John E. Pilgreen; Pat Pilgreen; Clarice Tracey and Jack Tomlin and many great nieces and nephews She retired from the U. S. Coast Guard as a GS12, Chief Contracting Officer for 3rd District in New Orleans, La. She was instrumental and deeply involved in the construction of several U.S. Coast Guard Stations along the Gulf Coast from Texas to Florida. She moved back to her home town, Selma, Al to care for her parents; she lived there until she moved to Gulf Shores to be near her niece Dianne Dent. Doris��� main enjoyments in life were travel and playing bridge. She has travelled all over Europe, Asia and Australia plus all 50 of the United States of America most of the time with her dear friend, Dr. Gloria Borello of Savannah, GA. Graveside services will be at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, AL at 10:00am on Tuesday March 1st with Father Steve Hornat officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.
