Dorothy "Dot" Wise DeRamus passed away March 13, 2019 at the age of 93. She was a resident of Selma for fifty-eight years before moving to Clanton, AL in 2002. She was born December 22, 1925 to the late William E. Wise and Leora Thomas Wise of Greensboro, AL.
Dot is survived by her husband of nearly seventy-one years, J. Cooper DeRamus; children, Sheila D. Wood (Rick), Kathy D. Zuelzke (Arthur C.) and Jeff C. DeRamus (Sandra); eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Her grandson, Eric DeRamus Wood preceded her in death.
Dot was known throughout central and south Alabama by her many students and friends to whom she taught her love of French hand sewing and smocking.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at Selma Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. with a graveside service to follow at 2:30 p.m. in Pineview Memory Gardens with her ministers, Meghan and Wes Kelley of Clanton FUMC officiating.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
