Dorothy Friday Stoves was born on July 27, 1924, and passed away on November 5, 2010, at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her parents James Van Friday and Marguerite Barnes Friday. Survivors are her daughters and sons-in-law Marge Till (Bruce) and Pat McDowell (Richard). Three grandchildren Lara Till, Ryan McDowell, and Hannah McDowell. She is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law J.V. Friday (Boots) and Charles Friday (Carol), nephews and nieces Wayne and Suzanne Friday, Mike and Robin Friday (Macon, GA), Kathryn and Robert Simpkins, Jimmy and Betty Friday, Diane and Mike Boan (Foley, AL), Jeannie and Mike O'Malley (Montgomery, AL), and Meg and Randall Stone. She also leaves many great nephews and nieces and cousins.
Dorothy retired after working 34 years at the Social Security Administration to be caregiver to her parents. She was a faithful, long-time member of Memorial United Methodist Church. She was especially close to her grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Monday, November 8, 2010 at Plantersville Christian Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Glenn Smith officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, November 7, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Ryan McDowell, Wayne Friday, Mike Friday, Jimmy Friday, Robert Simpkins, Mike Boan, Mike O'Malley, and Randall Stone.
Honorary Pallbearers are members of the Friendship Sunday School Class. Special thanks to Becky Anderson and nurses and staff at Park Place for their loving care.
