Earnest Champion

Earnest Grey Champion, 69, passed away on March 22, 2022 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center. He was born on March 23, 1952 to the late Ellis Lee and Minnie Loue Sheffield Champion.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby and Billy and his sister, Ann.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rita J. Champion; children, Jimmy (Beth) Champion, Tina Champion (Richie), and Jessica Champion; grandchildren, Stormy Epley (Cory Wharton), Brittany Champion (Brandon Jordan), Chris Johnson (Danielle LaLone) and R.J. Doss; great-grandson, Weston Johnson; brother, Richard; sisters, Mary and Betty Jane; sister-in-law, Sheila Johnson and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, Alabama with Pastor Jonathan Jenkins officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home of Selma directing. Visitation will be Monday, March 28, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Chris Johnson, Dale Boswell, Darrick Boswell, Mark Boswell, Jamey Lewis and Scott Cook. Honorary Pallbearers will be Raymond Cook, Curtis Cook and RJ Doss.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Staff of Selma Health & Rehab for the care that was extended to Earnest during his time there.
