Eddie Frank Thornton, Sr.

Mr. Eddie Frank Thornton, Sr.  of Selma, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at the age of 76.

He was born in Chilton County, Alabama to the late Elder Brother "EB" Thornton and the late Ruby K. Price Thornton on Wednesday, July 24, 1946.

Mr. Thornton was retired from Beech Aerospace in Selma. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army during the Vietnam era and later joined the National Guard where he furthered his service to his country for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Ila Jean Green Thornton; children, Edie Lavon Thornton Eubanks, Eddie "Frank" Thornton, Jr., and Thomas "Edwin" Thornton (DeDe); grandchildren, Clayton Thornton (Samantha), Sarah Kaitlyn Eubanks, Hannah Grace Billups (Andrew), Ed Eubanks, Cren Thornton, Macy Ann Thornton, and Malyn Thornton; great-grandchild, Emma Kate Thornton; siblings, Mary Katherine Wilson and Pamela Graham (Kenneth); and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Alice Faye McGraw, Jeffrey Alvin Thornton. Jimmy Charles Thornton, and Timothy William Thornton.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of Selma Funeral Home with Rev. Donny Shumate officiating.

Interment with military honors will follow in Pineview Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Thomas "Edwin" Thornton, Cren Thornton, Clayton Thornton, Ed Eubanks, Andrew Billups, and Alan Shumate.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Final care and arrangements have been faithfully entrusted to the Selma Funeral Home.
