Edna Sims

October 12, 1921 — November 9, 2015

Edna Bennett Sims, age 94, of Destin, FL. passed away Monday, November 9, 2015.

Mrs. Sims was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church since 1961. She placed the Lord, husband, children and family first in life. She resided at 51 Lamar Ave. for over 50 years was gracious and caring to friends and neighbors. She was active in Senior Services and was known for her special deserts she carried to nursing homes and homebound friends. She was Executive Housekeeper at the Holiday Inn for over 30 years, She will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by her daughter Janice Sims Kennis and son Philip Terry Sims. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Albert Sims, her eldest son Albert Wayne Sims, and her great grandson Clayton Hawkins, parents Clayton and Mary McGill Bennett, brother Edward Bennett, sisters Juanita Ray of Valdosta, GA and Victoria Spurlock Coppage of Hahira, GA.

She is survived by 10 grandchildren, Kim Peake, Shannon Pipkin, Ivy Sims, Albert Wayne "Bert" Sims Jr., Paul Kennis, Capt. Scott Kennis, Stacy Ramey, Brandon Sims, Erica Shellman, and Rachel Sims. She also had 20 great grandchildren.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 13, 2015 at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with Capt. Scott Kennis officiating. Burial will follow at Pineview Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday night from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be: Paul Kennis, Brandon Sims, Albert Wayne "Bert" Sims Jr, Phillip Peake, Gabriel Pipkin, and Samuel Kennis. Alternates will be Nathan Allen.
