Edward Seal passed away on May 6, 2024. He was born on October 24, 1934. Edward's impact on the community as a principal at Grissom High School in Huntsville, Alabama, and later as an administrator with the Alabama Department of Mental Health, will always be remembered.
Edward's life was filled with memories of adventure and camaraderie. One of his cherished moments was riding motorcycles with his brother-in-law, Joseph, exploring various scenic routes from Nova Scotia to Blue Ridge Parkway and from Glacier National Park to New England. These journeys created lasting memories that brought joy to both Edward and Joseph.
In addition to his professional achievements, Edward proudly served in the United States Marine Corps as a Radiotelephone Operator while stationed at Camp Pendleton. His dedication to serving his country reflected his strong sense of duty and honor.
Edward's passion for training hunting dogs was evident in his proudest accomplishments. He excelled as a field trial judge and dog trainer, enjoying every moment spent working with these loyal companions. His love for animals shone through in all aspects of his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Decker Seal.
Edward leaves behind his brother-in-law, Joseph (Betty) Decker, along with their children: Julie (William) Hendrick, Emily (Chris) Sommer, John (Sarah Margaret) Decker; and great nieces and nephews: Will Hendrick, Frank Hendrick, Jacob Sommer, Virginia Decker, and Jane Bratton Decker.
Visitation will be held at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home in Selma on May 9th from 10:00 am to 10:30 am. Graveside service will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery at 11:00 am. with military honors rendered by the United States Marine Corps. The service will be live streamed online, via the funeral home's Facebook page as well for those unable to attend in person.
