Eleanor Louise Reynolds

Eleanor Louise Barton Reynolds, born March 20, 1935, passed away May 1, 2023 at the age of 88.  Memorial services will be held at Church Street United Methodist Church at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 6 with a reception following immediately in the fellowship hall.

She is survived by her sons, John Spencer (Kathleen) Reynolds III, Steve Bradley (Amy) Reynolds; granddaughter, Elizabeth Amber and Stanley Radford Reynolds; brother, Aubrey Stewart Barton, Sr. and her sister-in-law, Judy Turk Barton, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. 

Mrs. Reynolds was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Bradley Barton and Elizabeth Morris Barton (Arthur Stone) Stone, her husband, John Spencer Reynolds II and brother, Clyde Bradley Barton.

She grew up in Marion, Alabama, graduating from Perry County High School and Judson College.  After marrying John Reynolds in 1957, she travelled world-wide with the Air Force.  She received her master’s in library science from the University of Central Missouri. 

She retired in 1975 in Selma to farm and became the Clark Elementary School Librarian for the next 20 years.  Upon her retirement, she worked at the Selma-Dallas County Public Library until 2020.

She was a long-standing member of Church Street United Methodist Church.
