Emily Henry Atkins, 88, died January 11, 2011 at her home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 15, in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence-Brown Service Funeral Home directing. The Rev. Joseph Knight, Priest Associate of St. Paul's Episcopal Church will officiate.
Mrs. Atkins was the widow of Julian S. Atkins. She was also preceded in death by her son, John Howell. She is survived by her son, Rick Howell (Diana) of Austin, Texas; three grandchildren, Valerie Stewart of Birmingham; John Howell (Joan) of Orlando, Florida, and Rich Howell (Emily) of Austin. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Adaline and Ace Henry Howell, also of Austin.
The family requests that memorial gifts be made to a charity of choice.
