Ernestine Elam

Ernestine Elam of Selma, Alabama passed away June 18, 2020 at the age of 92. She was born June 30, 1927. She lived a full life, and will be sorely missed by her family, friends and those friends she considered family.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at New Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. Ed Byron officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Due to COVID-19, the family asks that everyone in attendance follow social distancing guidelines and wear face coverings.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Calvin C. Elam; her parents, John Linton Covey, Sr. and Ernestine Barnes Covey; son, Ernest Calvin Elam; sister, Virginia Molene Covey; brother, John L. Covey and a special nephew, John Covey Capell.

She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Elam (Stephen M.) Zeigler; sister-in-law, Nancy Covey; special niece, Diane Covey Cymbalak; special great-nephew, John Anthony Covey and other nieces and nephews.
