Ethel "Charly" Courtney

Ethel “Charly” McCloud Courtney passed away October 20, 2021 at the age of 66. She was born September 28, 1955 to the late Carlos and Etheleen McCloud.

She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Schoen, Jr.

Charly had a green thumb, a love for the outdoors, tinkering in her shed and building things – even the balusters and railing on the front and their homestead and the screened-in back porch. She was very strong-willed, hardheaded, hard working and loved caring for the family home meticulously. She was a very loving and caring wife, mother and MeMe.

She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Gary Courtney; daughters, Susan Martin, Jessica (Robert) Rose and Shanda (Randall) Castleberry; sisters, Maxine (Robert) Gaines, Mary McCloud and Lynn McCloud; brothers, Robert (Mary) McCloud and Donald McCloud; grandchildren, Danica Martin, Ann-Miller Howe, Avery Rose, Adalee Rose, Trenton Castleberry and Willow Castleberry and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Crosspoint Christian Church with Pastor David Nichols, Gary Courtney and Rev. Alan Yarbrough officiating. Interment will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Robert Rose, Randall Castleberry, Billy Perry, Russell Ralston, Kenneth Poe, Jeremy Gourtney and Curtis Nichols.
