Florence Green (Midge) Rogers, formerly of Selma and Marion Jct., died peacefully on Sep. 6, 2011. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and aunt to her extended family. Midge was a fearless, active woman, deeply spiritual in her involvement in the Selma and Marion Jct. Methodist churches. She always touched family and friends with her love and kindness, often hosting large holiday celebrations at "the farm" in Marion Jct. Midge was intellectually and physically active, being an avid bridge player, reader, and regular swimmer. She was well travelled, having visited Canada, the Caribbean, Europe, and Africa, as well as criss-crossing the U.S. in her baby blue Cadillac. She was one of Alabama's first female bank officers, having served that Marion Jct. State Bank for over twenty years. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Jimmie Rogers, and daughter, Nelsie Jackson and is survived by her son, James (Jimbo) Rogers, son-in-law, John Jackson, grandchildren, Ashley Green Rogers, James Rogers III, Judd Jackson, and Jennifer Kamykowski, and five great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at the New Live Oak Cemetary in Selma, Sep. 10, 2011, at 11:00 AM.
