March 2, 1954 — March 15, 2025

Floyd "Dunk" Eugene Pickering, a beloved figure in his community, passed away on March 15, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and joy that touched the lives of countless friends and neighbors. He was a beacon of light in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him, known for his infectious laughter and unwavering spirit.

He was born March 2, 1954 to the late John Allen Pickering and Jean Colee Pickering. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Vickie Lynn Pickering; brothers, Jimmy "Jimbo" (Karen) Pickering and Johnny (Cynthia) Pickering and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Born to be a friend to all, Dunk was not just a man; he was a true force of nature. With his larger-than-life personality, he became the host of many gatherings at "Dunk's Creek" and the "Blue House," where laughter and music filled the air. He had an incredible ability to bring people together, creating memories that will forever linger in the hearts of those fortunate enough to share in his company. Whether it was dancing to rock and blues or sharing a story over a fishing line, Dunk made every moment brighter.

His love for adventure and the great outdoors was evident in his passion for hunting and fishing. He cherished the time spent with friends, sharing tales of escapades and enjoying the serenity of nature. Whether he was out on the water or exploring the woods, Dunk found happiness in the simplicity of life and the companionship of those he cared for.

Though he and his beloved wife Vicki did not have children of their own, their home brimmed with love and laughter, as they welcomed numerous "adoptive children" from the community into their hearts. Dunk's affection for these young ones was palpable; he delighted in riding them around on three-wheelers, forever ensuring that joy was present in their lives. His nurturing spirit and big-hearted approach to life created an extended family that thrived in the warmth of his love.

Dunk leaves behind a community forever changed by his presence, a testament to his character that will echo in the hearts of his friends, for he truly was the life of every party. May we always remember his laughter, his generosity, and the joy he spread, while holding tight to the legacy of love he has left behind.
