Frances Vinson Pepper, 98, passed away on January 7, 2017. She was predeceased by her parents, Grover Cleveland Vinson and Isadora Glenn Vinson, her husband, Albert Parrish Pepper, Sr. and a son, Albert Parrish Pepper, Jr. She is survived by a son, James Edward Pepper and wife Jane Everett Pepper, two sisters, Vesper Vinson Harris and Kathryn Vinson Cooper. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Alison Pepper, Guy Pepper, Amy Pepper Glass and Carrie Pepper Morrow. Also, eight great grandchildren: Emily and Ethan Pepper, Oriana and Oden Pepper-Schroeder, Jimmy Morrow, and Everett, Ainsley, and Easton Glass.
Mrs. Pepper was born July 8, 1918 in Coosa County, Alabama. She worked on the family farm until she graduated from High School as Valedictorian of her class. She graduated from nursing school and became a Registered Nurse. She worked in nursing in various capacities and interrupted her career for 14 years to raise her two sons. She then returned to nursing at the VA hospital in Salisbury, NC for 5 years. She transferred to the VA hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She retired from that hospital after spending several years as Director of Nursing of Psychiatry.
She will be remembered by those who knew her as a kind, generous, loving and gracious person who made lives brighter.
A graveside service is planned for 2:00 PM January 14, 2017 at the New Live Oak Cemetery located at 110 West Dallas Avenue, Selma, Alabama. The Rev. Jim Meadows, Pastor of Church Street UMC, Selma, Al will conduct the service.
Flowers may be sent to Lawrence-Brown Service Funeral Home, 2900 Citizens Parkway, Selma, Al 36701. Condolences may be sent to James E. Pepper, 535 Chadwick Shores Dr., Sneads Ferry, NC. Any memorial donations may be made to the charity of choice.
Family and friends will gather after the service at the home of Mrs. Jo Ann Bowline, 2804 Old Orville Rd., Selma, Alabama.
