George Martin Cook Jr. was born October 14, 1942 and raised in Valley Grande, AL. He passed away on November 21, 2020.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George M. Cook Sr. and Ella Mae Middleton Cook and his sister, Ann Cook Black.
He is survived by his wife Gayle Turner Cook and his stepson, Timothy Barrett, whom he raised like his own son, and his granddaughter, April. He is also survived by his brothers, Bill Cook (Maureen) and John Cook (Mary Jane), his sister, Mary Cook, and his brother-in-law, Robert Black.
George attended Dallas Academy and Parrish High School, graduating in the Class of 1961. He served two years in the U.S. Army from 1965-67. After his discharge from the army, he began working for the Southern Railroad, which became the Norfolk Southern in 1982. He worked for the railroad for 32 years and enjoyed a long and happy retirement helping family members and friends.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Graveside services 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Pineview Memory Gardens with Rev. Michael Liles officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.
