George W. Hewston, age 92, of Hazen, AL, passed away October 24, 2018.
He served as a corporal in the Army during World War II in the Pacific and was a Purple Heart recipient. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for forty two years as a rural letter carrier.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce R. Hewston and siblings, Jud Ernest Hewston, Jr., Wilford Glenn Hewston, Lillian Maurine Hewston, Ruth Evelyn Hewston and Claud Kenneth Hewston.
He is survived by his sons, George Andrew Hewston and Robert Furniss (Nancy) Hewston and grandchildren, Robert Andrew (Lyndsee) Hewston, William Robert Hewston and George Wynn Hewston.
Graveside services will be Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in New Live Oak Cemetery with Chaplain Mike Lewis officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of choice.
