Gordon Bruner Strickland, age 73, of Selma, died Monday September 5, 2011. Mr. Strickland was an avid outdoorsman, which included hunting and fishing and he was also an Atlanta Braves fan. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marie Strickland; son, Chris Strickland (Beverly); grandchildren, Ashley Potvin (Jason), Blanton Strickland and Brent Strickland; sister, Kay Parton of Michigan and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday September 8, 2011 at Pineview Memory Gardens with Reverend Deborah Born officiating and nephew Gary Alburul speaking and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday night.
Pallbearers will be Blanton and Brent Strickland, Jason Potvin, Stephen Stabler, Gary Alburul and David Fuller.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to The American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454 Alexandria, VA 22312.
