Grady O'Shields

Grady Cecil O'Shields, age 88, of Valley Grande, AL, passed away October 6, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert C. and Lottie Mae O'Shields, brother, Robert O'Shields and granddaughter-in-law, Charity Williamson. He is survived by his wife, Juliette O'Shields; daughters, Diane (Ronnie) Williamson and Carolyn Vandiviere; grandchildren, Julie (Jason) Thompson, Timothy (Vicki) Williamson and Brian Williamson; great-grandchildren, Faith Williamson, Peyton Williamson, Landen Williamson, Justin Bone and Brentin Littleton; brothers, David O'Shields of Selma, AL and Lavone O'Shields of Smyrna, GA and sisters, Dorothy Bartlett and Ruth Hicks all of Selma, AL. Graveside services will be Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in Pineview Memory Gardens with Rev. Charles Sullivan officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Brian Williamson, Tim Williamson, Jason Thompson, Ed Chance, T. E. Wright and Jimmy Golden. Mr. O'Shields was a U. S. Army Veteran and served in World War II. He received the Good Conduct Medal. American Theater Ribbon, Marksmanship Medal, World War II Victory Medal and European, African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon. He was a charter member of Bible Methodist Church and a volunteer worker at the Nutrition Center.
