Gwendolyn Mock Shaw

January 2, 1953 — February 12, 2025

Gwendolyn Mock Shaw passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025. She was 72. Lovingly known as “Linnie” to family and close friends, Gwen was born in Selma, AL on January 2, 1953, to the late Peter Robert Mock, Sr. and Gwendolyn Anderson Mock. She was preceded in death by her brothers Peter Robert “PR” Mock, Jr., James “Jim” Mock, and Julian “Buck” Mock. Gwen is survived by her husband of 51 years, Buc Shaw; children, Kim Shaw (Jeff Hubbard) and David Shaw (Emily); granddaughter, Julianna Shaw; sister, Earle Mock (Danny Jordan); brother-in-law, Bill Shaw (John Machado); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

Gwen was kind, loving, and generous. She had a servant’s heart and took care of everyone she knew. In her mind, blood didn’t determine who was and was not her family; she warmly welcomed and cared for all. Gwen was exceptionally devoted to her family, friends, and community. She spent most of her adult life serving others both independently and in various capacities as a volunteer with organizations including Girl Scouts of the USA, Boy Scouts of America, Church Street Methodist Church, the Rural Letter Carriers’ Association, and others. Following in her father’s footsteps, she had a 31-year career as a rural mail carrier with the United States Postal Service. Gwen took great pride in her job and most enjoyed building relationships with her co-workers and customers.
