H. Blake Hooper, 60, formerly of Montgomery, AL, died suddenly at home of heart arrhythmia. Blake, a former radio/tv news director, was an independent web designer. His boss called him "the last of the great news men." His clients considered him a dear friend.

Survivors include his daughter, Carrie (Bill) Rice, and granddaughter, Maggie; siblings, Mary (Bill) Wegenka, Marshall Hooper, and Frances Hooper Rothwein; beloved companion, Beth Hirst and nieces, Emily Hooper and Sarah Hooper.

A memorial service was held Saturday, October 11, at 1:00 pm, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Des Moines, Iowa. A second memorial service will be held Saturday, November 1, 2014 in the chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with Cecil Williamson officiating, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Mr. Hooper's cremains will be interred in New Live Oak Cemetery privately.

Memorials may be directed to the family for a college fund for Maggie Rice
