Harold Tallant

Harold Dean Tallant, age 83, of Selma, AL, passed away November 2, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Avin and Vergie Swaim Tallant; son, Anthony Fielding Tallant; brother, Adron Tallant and sisters, Ozelle Tallant Kidd and Nancy Tallant Thomas. Surviving are his wife of sixty-two years, Wilma Patterson Tallant; son Dwight (Ann) Tallant; daughters, Peggy Tallant (Terry) Jerden and Colette Tallant; sister, Jean Tallant Britt and grandchildren, Jeffrey Jerden, Elizabeth Jerden, Katherine Tallant, and Margaret Tallant. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Guy Anderson officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3-4:00 p.m. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Earnest's Sunday School Class from Elkdale Baptist Church and The Old Geezers Coffee Club. Mr. Tallant retired after twenty-eight years at Alamet as Plant Superintendent. He was an avid sportsman and loved fishing, hunting and golf. He was a World War II Veteran and served on the USS Henrico in the South Pacific. He was a member of Elkdale Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to Elkdale Baptist Church, 2221 Elkdale Street, Selma, AL 36701.
