Harriet Harrison Sobera, age 84 of Selma, died Thursday April 12, 2012.
Mrs Sobera was preceded in death by her husband, John Ames Sobera Sr. and parents, Claude Derrell and Emmaline Josephine Harrison.
She is survived by her children, Diane Griffith of Tuscaloosa, Al, Mary Jo Young of Gainesville, GA and Albert Champion, Jr. of Selma; grandchildren, Mary Harriet Griffith, Chip Griffith, Shannon Hall and Macon McCormick; 4 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday April 15, 2012 at Elkdale Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Henry, Rev. Cory Horton and Rev. Guy Anderson officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Sobera was a faithful member of Elkdale Baptist Church and Joy Sunday School Class. She volunteered as a Pink Lady for over 40 years, was an emblem club member, and was a Meal's on Wheels volunteer.
She retired from Leon's Department Store after 20 years of service, and spent her retirement gardening, making ceramics, and baking for friends and family.
Pallbearers will be Chip Griffith, Macon McCormick, Alex Hall, Bill Hall, Bob Meyers, Roger Champion, and Hunter Harrison.
